Uganda Partnership

Uganda Partnership

20 Years & Counting!

Twin Cities Church entered into a global partnership with El Shaddai World Ministries (Uganda) in 2006, and that relationship has borne amazing fruit over that decade! The first draw to El Shaddai was the newly established children’s home, which had taken in 60 young orphans with no immediate means of support. TCC prayerfully agreed to take on those 60 orphans, sponsoring them financially, praying for them, and basically becoming their long distance Moms and Dads!

Things have grown so much since Pastor Robert Muhumuza met Pastor John and the people of TCC, and that first team of 23 people from TCC that went to Uganda in 2006 walked into so many unknowns. Since then we have sent many more teams (a total of 19 as of January 2026), and the partnership has expanded in amazing ways. It has been a huge blessing for El Shaddai, and an even bigger blessing for TCC, as we have realized that God has as much to do in us through this relationship as He wants to do through us.

Check out the sections below to find out more about this partnership, and to see if you might want to get involved. It has been said, “We need Africa more than Africa needs us,” and you may just discover that it’s true!

Mama's Heart

Mama’s Heart began with a vision to reach out to the desperate and destitute women in the Jinja community in Uganda. Many of these women have been widowed by the AIDS epidemic, or are single mothers who have been mistreated by their husbands and community. They share a common plight: extreme difficulty caring for themselves and the children that God has entrusted to them. Many of these women not only have the responsibility of raising their own children, but have opened their hearts to embrace orphans into their home as well. For more info. about how to get involved with Mama's Heart, email Kathy or call 530.273.6425 ext. 400.

El Shaddai

Children's Home

The El-Shaddai Children’s Home is 5 miles outside Jinja in eastern Uganda. It began in 2003, as Pastor Robert Muhumuza began caring for the many local children who had lost their parents, primarily due to AIDS. Sponsoring a child from the El-Shaddai Children’s Home is a great way to join in the work of God in Uganda! They currently have 61 children on site, and they are providing shelter, food, clothing, education, spiritual care, medical care, vocational training, and parental love to these children. To find out how you can be involved, email Kathy or call 530.273.6425 ext. 400.

our orphaned children

The 60+ children that have been part of the children’s home have become the heart of our relationship with El Shaddai. The little children that barely spoke English, some who were close to death through disease or malnutrition, have blossomed into healthy teenagers as a result of our prayers and support. Their future looks bright, as they are being groomed to be world changers there in Uganda!

Sponsorship opportunities:

You can make a difference in the life of one of these precious children! Here’s how:

1. Pray about it! Ask God if you, your family or your Community Group are ready to take on this commitment.

2. The FINANCIAL commitment: You can choose a “Shared Sponsorship,” which is $50 a month, or a “Full Sponsorship,” which is $100 a month. You can choose a child (availability can be seen as you look through the pictures and bios of the children), or we can assign one to you if you’d prefer. This money pays for their complete care, including education.

3. Your SPIRITUAL commitment: Please commit to pray for your sponsored child as frequently as possible. We’ll provide you with a picture of your child to help remind you to pray, and as you write to your child (and receive letters from them) you will come to know them better, and know how to pray more specifically.

4. Ask us for a Sponsorship Form: If you are ready to make the commitment, email Kathy, and we’ll set you up!

their stories

Our Projects

Medical Projects:

  • Provided medical and dental care for our children, employing a nurse and establishing a small onsite medical clinic at the children’s home/church (shared property).
  • Helped our orphan, Martin, get the medical surgery to fix his crossed eyes. This was successful (as it was performed while he was young), and Martin’s eyes are doing well!
  • Taught dental and personal hygiene to our children, and have been providing supplies so they can continue with this.
  • Given special attention to one of our orphan girls who is HIV positive from birth. Through proper (expanded) nutrition, medical care and education she is a thriving member of the El Shaddai community!
  • Provided hearing aids in attempts to improve significant hearing problems with two of our orphan children.
  • Provided both medical care and finances to help Pastor Robert, his family members, and our children with major medical emergencies.

Physical Projects:

  • Helped build a multi-room primary school, which served our own children and hundreds of other community children for several years.
  • Helped establish the onsite medical clinic, retrofitting the room chosen for the clinic, building and purchasing shelving, supplies, cabinetry, etc.
  • Helped develop onsite water systems, primarily in water gathering and storage systems.
  • Helped build a new onsite (Ugandan rustic!) kitchen to feed our children and others there at the church/children’s home. This included buying specialized (fire heated) ovens, huge pots and utensils, etc.
  • Helped put up an exploratory solar power system at the church/children’s home.
  • Helped build a permanent church building in Namasoga, the oldest of Pastor Robert’s church plants.
  • Funded and helped dig/build a large onsite baptismal at the “home base” church, where we baptized over 150 people the first Sunday it was completed.
  • Donated money to purchase land for farming and continued development as the ministry expands.
  • Purchased milk cows for Pastor Robert in a “Christmas Moo-ganda!” campaign.
  • Helped put up fencing and retaining walls in strategic places, replaced broken windows (many times!), repaired bunk beds, and painted the church and orphanage buildings (inside and out).
  • Helped provide for a new septic system and improved bathrooms at the children’s home/church.
  • Provided a large amount of money to rebuild the children’s home (boys’) building after a major fire. We also provided all new storage and clothing for the boys, many who lost everything they own.

Spiritual/Church Development:

  • Funded a number of Pastor Robert’s church plants, buying sound systems and equipment for outreach crusades, purchasing property for the new churches, and even financing rudimentary church buildings at those sites.
  • Active part of the crusade that launched a new church at Bulanga, doing local “hut-to-hut” evangelism, being there for its first Sunday (even providing the preaching) and doing many follow-up visits (for discipleship, more evangelism, weddings, etc.)
  • Led many sessions with local children to lead them to new life in Jesus. More importantly TCC has trained our growing orphans to lead those short crusades themselves! Our own orphans now lead the worship, games, crafts, Bible story time, and all that goes into leading other young children to Jesus. They have led literally hundreds of children and adults to new life in Jesus during their mini-crusades!
  • Taught extensively on moral purity (including AIDS awareness and prevention), Bible study techniques, and leadership development.
  • Provided (over the years) more than 1,000 Bibles for the churches that Pastor Robert oversees.
  • Preached/spoken at many area churches over the years, expanding our spiritual impact.
